Masno Farm

On May last year, we have started our own venture by financing on our own money. It was a small-scale market garden that we planned to cover the demand of a hundred household in Hargeisa, Somaliland, for the first season. The reason we put our money in this plot of land to become market garden was to secure our families’ income stream on one side and to contribute, based on our ability, the food security of our society in the short-run. The contribution of farming sector in Somaliland is between 8% and 15% of the GDP. Also, 90% of the crops depend on rain, while the remaining 10% are irrigation farms1. Most of the crops uses in the cities of Somaliland are imported from the neighboring countries, like Ethiopia, Yemen and EGYPT. We aim to bring fresh healthy vegetable and fruit for our customers and to contribute a practical knowledge towards the modern agricultural technology. Masno Market Garden is raising $1,000 to pay equipment (Pipes polyethylene, Control group with filter end fertilizer, Polyethylene tee) and to cover their operational costs in order to expand their business.
